Changing with the Seasons: 13 Products Your Skin Needs This Winter
Your skin needs TLC 365 days a year, but especially in the dry, cold winter, we really need to make sure our skin is moisturized and ready to brave these conditions. I already have naturally dry skin so every winter I make sure to take EXTRA precautions in protecting my skin and you should too! Here is a list of my favorite skincare products that are musts for keeping your skin on point this frigid season.
1. Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil
What you need is a clean, effective, and non drying cleanser for the winter. This one from Biossance is perfect, filled with antioxidants and squalane to lock in moisture for your whole day. Not only will it cleanse your skin, but it removes makeup as well. Lastly, it has the Sephora Clean sticker which I try to only shop because I have such sensitive skin.
2. Caudalie Gentle Cleansing Milk
This is a great option for someone who doesn’t like an oil cleanser but wants something gentle to still assist with not stipping the skin when cleansing it. I love milky cleansers because they really do clean my skin without leaving it dry. Especially for the winter, going with a milk cleanser is such a great choice. This product is also clean certified which we stan forever.
This AMOREPACIFIC exfoliator is a must have because if you’re not exfoliating, every other step you have in your routine is redundant. Exfoliating gets rid of dead skin cells and renews your skin to help with cell turnover. What I love about this one specifically is that it’s a powder that when water is added to foams into a scrub.
4. OLEHENRIKSEN Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner
I would say a lot of us struggle with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and it’s one of my least favorite parts of dealing with my skin. I will have hyperpigmentation if I pick or not pick, either way I’m constantly dealing with working towards fading dark spots. This toner from OLEHENRIKSEN is a great one for the winter not just to keep skin refreshed but also if you specifically struggle with dark spots. It has AHA’s in it which helps with evening the skin tone and texture, and is another clean certified product.
5. The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum
Hyaluronic Acid, aka what you need to use to have nice plumped, hydrated skin, is the one product that you must take away from this list. Almost every skincare brand makes their own version of an HA. I recommend this one from the Inkey List because not only is it effective but affordable for an introductory product.
6. Nécessaire TheBody Serum
We are all obsessed with serums for our face but have you ever heard about a body serum? Necessaire makes one and it is constantly sold out which should be enough proof of its effectiveness. This is the most important thing your body needs this winter. We always prioritize the skin on our face when in fact our WHOLE BODY is covered in skin, right? Just like a face serum, this product will deeply moisturize your skin with hyaluronic acid and help with making your lotion absorb better.
7. Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Face Oil
I personally do not use face oils as they cause my skin a lot of trouble, but I know multiple people who swear by this one. It is so hydrating that sometimes my friends only use this and don’t even need to put on a moisturizer. Marula oil has antioxidant properties, which helps with retaining moisture and producing a rejuvenated glow in the skin. It won the Influenster award in both 2018 and 2019 for best facial oil. In the products testing, 97% of the users said the oil was moisturizing, 94% said their skin was softer, and 89% said the oil was breathable on their skin.
8. Caudalie Moisturizing Mask
Another Caudalie product, this mask is a great one to keep your skin clear and moisturized. With HA and Grape Seed Oil, it helps with not only elasticity but also redness and irritation. It’s an all around great mask to use whenever you feel as though your skin is just not it.
9. Dr. Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution
This mask is in my Top Shelf blog post but I had to include it here as well because it is my go to for quick hydration which we all need this time of the year. This mask is a game changer for sheet masks and always hydrates my skin within 20 minutes. I use these in the winter religiously and also on airplanes so you know they’re super hydrating.
10. Weleda Skin Food
Weleda Skin Food is a holy grail secret product for some that I honestly stand behind. Weleda makes a lotion that can be used for your entire body. I personally like it as a travel lotion for my hands. It’s super affordable but effective so you really can’t go wrong with trying out Weleda to stop your hands from getting dry, especially with all the hand washing and sanitzer applying we’re doing lately!
11. Vanicream Moisturizing Cream
Vanicream’s moisturizer for your whole body is another fantastic option for the cold winter months we will be experiencing. It’s fragrance free, dye free, and paraben free. This helps with cracked skin, sensitive skin, and calming for skin that gets easily irritated. It’s super thick for those of us who really want to feel the lotion deeply absorbing into our skin.
12. Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm
This item is on the front page of my blog in my “What I’m Loving Section” because I am fully obsessed with it. I have always been a chapstick whore and my biggest concern is moisturizing my lips enough before bed so I don’t wake up with lips drier than the Sahara. This is the first lip product that I have used in a while where I wake up after an 8hr slumber and my lips actually feel moisturized. It’s a bit of a splurge for a lip balm but I promise you it’s worth it and the only thing your lips will need this winter.
13. Supergoop Play Everyday Lotion SPF 50
YES, you still need to wear sunscreen in the winter! The Supergoop Everyday SPF 50 is soooo easy to slather on top of your moisturizer every morning. It is invisible, lightweight, and with sunflower extract and rosemary leaf extract will keep your skin from getting red and dried out from the winter sun!
